Holiday 2009 / Winter 2010 Update

Apologies, all, for the lag time since my last posting. I've got a lot going on, as we all seem to during the holidays, so I'll keep this brief, and promise to tell more soon.

I'm very pleased to announce that one of my lithographs, 'You Can Not Erase Me,' was chosen for the private collection of the Vicious Dog Press, along with a lineup of other artists representing the vanguard of MSCD print makers... awesome!

Also, a couple of my lithographs were chosen for the Metro Now show at the Emmanuel Gallery, which opened yesterday. The exhibition was juried by fantastic local artists, Jill Hadley Hooper and John Davenport, and features work by current Metro students. Emmanuel Gallery's exhibitions are always free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday from 10-6 and Saturday from 11-5.

(This show is really really good, one not to miss.)

Happy Valentine's Day! And, President's Day! And, Chinese New Year! And, Opening of the XXI Olympic Winter Games! More soon. Xo, Izah

I'm very excited and honored to be participating in "Spirits of Riverside", a show to support The Friends of Historic Riverside Cemetery. It features "artwork inspired by the landscape at Riverside" and will be presented on the second floor of Denver’s oldest brewpub, The Wynkoop Brewing Company, from October 10th through November 15th, 2009.

I'd love it if you all could join us for a reception on October 31st (Halloween) from 5-7pm. The reception is free and open to the public.

Art for Ransom
September 12

Opening/Event: Saturday, September 12| 6:00-10:00 pm
Gallery: RedLine
2350 Arapahoe Street
Denver 80205

Help! My art is being held for ransom! During times of limited funding from grants and philanthropy, Art for Ransom is asking the community: Where would we be without access to art? Art for Ransom is an art exhibition, happening, one-of-a-kind event by Arts Street and RedLine, two community focused arts nonprofits.

Art will be concealed from view until event goers collectively pay its ransom.
We are asking artists and patrons from the community to come together and
combine micro-donations with magnanimous gestures to reveal the collective
work ranging from young students to noteworthy professionals.

$5 admission (cash or check made out to Arts Street). Ransom tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door for $5 each or $45 for 10.

To pre-purchase Ransom Tickets contact:

Stella Yu at stella.yu@arts-street.org, 303-328-1868 or
Sara Chaitin at schaitin@redlineart.org, 303-296-4448

I also have solo show coming up in early 2010 in Denver, CO. Stay tuned, further information to follow. As always, free to contact me with any questions...I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks, and enjoy the end of summer!

CURRENT 3 (cubed)

Opening: Friday, March 6 | Dedication at 6pm. Lighting at 6:20 pm.
Gallery: Outdoors at Manny's bridge.
The historic, steel railroad, now pedestrian bridge,
1400 Wynkoop Street (over Cherry Creek in LoDo)
Denver, CO 80202

What is LoDo Lights? Public art of our time in the form of light media. The 2009 launch year serves as an illuminated tribute to Denver's 150th Anniversary.

The project is patterned after the successful annual "Lucia d'Artista", in Turin, Italy. There, contemporary art light sculptures are spread through the historic city to help brighten the winter nights. Virginia Folkestad, a Denver installation artist, was chosen to create Denver's inaugural light project. The interactive light installation contains elements of historic patterns of travel projected on the pedestrian bridge deck, plus washes of colored light changing as people move across Cherry Creek. The work honors the original user, the DRGW Railroad, and the many who have used the bridge.

*There is pay parking inside the building at 1400 Wewatta/1401 Wynkoop.
